“This kind of project can only come to life when there’s 100% trust between all parties. I had that from Erol, and the commissioner, John Mouley — mostly because, the song is so unique.
They wanted something surreal, and my point of view is that surrealism is always best played straight. No crazy effects, just trusting what’s in front of the camera. Reality, slightly off, but somehow more true to the emotion because of it.
The result is something I don’t think I could ever make again. A sudden burst of inspiration — inspired by the music — allowed the freedom to be explored fully.”
